Fantasic album, but god awful pressing. Worst sounding record in my collection.
Silverbrew
I hope Doxy would Reissue this, Afro-Harping & Dorothy's Harp like they did with"The Jazz Harpist" & "Dorothy Ashby 1962" cause they Sound Great....

We need Steve Hoffman or a similar expert to manage the next reissue/remaster so that this doesn't have all the clarity of a fart in a bathtub.

It doesn't sound so bad to me. But maybe because this is the only way I've ever heard this album and I love it beyond proper fidelity.
Mitynarit

Thought I had the same edition but I have two copies with a different pair of runouts. Anyone else got the same:(A): 3972 - LPS 841 - 1 (A) 5 - 48776 (followed by a signature I can't read)(B): 3972 - LPS 841 - 1 (B) 5 - 48777 (followed by a signature I can't read)

tempted by its cheap price I went for it and bought a copy just to find out that this sounds like being played through a cardboard speaker. flatest sounding record in my collection. a real shame. do yourself a favor and don't buy it.but still a majestic album.. anyone a spare original copy?

The fidelity of this pressing is pretty awful, as you might expect from a bootleg. The instrumental tracks are quite muddy and the vocals do not sit in the mix. If you just want an object to store on your shelf that looks as much like the original album as possible for under $15, OK. Everyone else, seek out the CD on Universal instead, or put up the extra money for an original if you really must have a vinyl edition. To be honest, even the various pirated mp3 versions floating around the web sound much better than this. A real shame, because in my opinion this is not only the best Dorohty Ashby or Richard Evans LP, but one of the very finest albums ever made in any genre, probably in my top 5 or so of all time... and it's hard for me to think of an equally tremendous album from its era that is currently out of print in every format in the form legitimate reissue. In a sentence, this is a terrible edition of an incredible album.

The japanese cd is also a Cadet release. Does anyone can say how does it sound?
Gir
Is it a bootleg? It is here as a Cadet release. Bootleg or fake copy? Not very popular album to have fake ones and since more agree with you, was this bad pressing a single case or Cadet reissues are to avoid?
